Royal Shark Fin

 Caffe’ Latte

Pebbles Cuisine

Fish Head and Tofu Hot-pot

The story goes like this: Emperor Kein-Long of Ching Dynasty’s 13th sister was to marry into Confucious’ family. The Shark Fin served at the wedding was named ’Royal shark fin’, referring to a royal marriage.

This was a glorified wedding between a princess and a noble family. From then on, all shark fins served in any of Confucsious’ family banquets were called ‘Royal Shark Fin”.

The name may be Italian, but Caffe Latte did not come from Italy but Turkey. This traced back all the way to the Muslin army of Mohammed the 4th Turkish ruler who put Vienna under siege. The Christian armies inside Vienna decided to get help from Poland; however, they must send someone that could speak Turkish to fool the Muslin army. A Viennese by the name of Kukiesky volunteered and successfully brought Polish armies to the rescue. The Turkish Muslin army left in such a hurry they left massive goods behind, including coffee beans. Nobody except Kukiesy knew what to do with the beans. He opened a coffee shop called ‘Blue Bottle’ and started brewing the first cup of Caffee Latte.

A delicate Japanese cusine that originated from the Buddhist monk, it was believed that monks were not allowed to eat during meditation. When they got too hungry they would warm up pebbles and put them at the abdomen inside their robes to keep their stomach warm so they could endure hunger. Afterward, they would eat very simple food with tea. Somehow, these food turned to become delicate cooking that made its way into other restaurants.

This is another story about Emperor Kein-long who visited to a village in civilian clothing on a rainy day. He became so hungry that he want into a couple’s house and asked for food. The nice couples Mr. and Mrs. Wong had nothing but a fish head and home-made tofu so they put everything into a hot pot with certain seasoning. The Emperor ate it and fell in love with it right away. He left with a full stomach and utmost satisfaction. Later on, the Emperor returned and granted Wong an award and cash reward. Wong used the money and opened a restaurant, needless to say, the Fish Head and Tofu Hot Pot became the signature dish of his restaurant.
